beats from the underground

in beats from the underground, i spin tales about struggle and triumph over a canvas of cyberpunk-inspired beats sampled from my instrumental album, post neo noir.

if post was my Blade Runner/Vangelis tribute album, beats is an attempt to remix that while layering a kind of classic hip hop flavor on top of it.

the album explores themes of death, ambition, conflict, and competition both economic and spiritual from within a scifi context.

i think people may grasp the contrast of the writer displaying a level of maturity with some of the subject matter of these raps while also searching and yearning for growth into a more desirable future timeline. while there may be a more somber, solemn mood pervading the album than in much of my previous work, with the writer revealing a state of mind teeter-tottering between deep regret and repentance, theres also a prevailing sense that 'sins of the past propel a person into a perfect version'.
